Status Report

What stage of the process am I on and how is it progressing? How or what could I improve?
--I am currently working in a material phase. I'm making more materials for the same objects, that way we can utilize more of our assets. I have to make some more grunge graffiti decals/materials to give sections of our map a slightly different feel.

Did I change my milestone goals? If so, why?
--Yes, some ideas of our milestones such as check points were severely delayed due to coding problems, which really set the team back..

How did i deal with the problems that came up?
--The majority of the problems dealt with code issues which is not my area of concentration, so i let the boys handle that while i continued to make more textures, meshes, and placed them in the meantime.

What is working and what is not working in the planning and implementation of the project?
--The team worked great together with the exception of one teammate who failed to contribute much to the project.

Briefly describe your time spent and any problems (within the team, with a computer, etc)
--I cannot honestly begin to ponder the countless hours I've spent on creating this game. Every time i opened my computer, UDK was loaded up no matter if i had the time to work or not. I do feel like i contributed a lot of time and effort into the game. There were no problems as far as the computer went (such as lagging or glitching) then again i do have the omega of computers.

Evaluate the project as a whole including team members
--I really love our game and where the game can lead. I am very impressed by our team as well, i believe we worked great together with, as i mentioned earlier, the exception of one teammate who showed little effort in the creation process. but for what it is, i think the game came out great.

If so, why?
--My goals are still the same and running at a good pace.

How did i deal with the problems that came up?
--The problems i kept running into was that i would build and place static meshes within the level meanwhile someone else was doing the same thing to a version they had, and we would drop various versions of the map. It became repetitive because i would scrap my version and work of someone else's but by the time i was done placing, someone else had made changes and saved out the map. So i would constantly replace the same objects. This past week eric and i came up with a good idea where each person gets a day of the week to make changes/additions to the map while others built assets

What is working and what is not working in the planning and implementation of the project?
--The team is still working together great

Briefly describe your time spent and any problems (within the team, with a computer, etc)
--I've lost count on hours spent on the game, it seams like every time my computer is open i'm adding things, making materials or trying different effects. I had a little problem with the collisions of the quarter pipes i made but turns out the easiest way to handle that particular object was building the bounds in 3DSMAX. the only other real problem was that of which i discussed earlier.

--I love our game, i love my team and i honestly believe we will have one of the better games created in the class. and it will make a great portfolio piece. I have let a few of my friends play test the game so i can hear their outside opinion and see where the most difficult areas are.

Status Report

What stage of the process am I on and how is it progressing? How or what could I improve?
--I am currently still in the creation station, i have made numerous models including buildings, supports, as well as animated materials for UDK. Although I am having a few problems with importing the models into the engine, stand by for update.
Did I change my milestone goals? If so, why?
--My goals are still the same and the team is ahead of schedule, which i am very excited about, and gives us time for some tuning.

How did i deal with the problems that came up?
--As mentioned earlier, the models I created are giving me an error
It's likely to be the results of one or more of the following;
  • No UVW map present on the mesh
  • No materials
  • Not using a 'closed' mesh
  • Excessive smooth group use
  • More than two UVW maps
I'll be heading up to school later to re-look and revamp the models

What is working and what is not working in the planning and implementation of the project?
--The team is still working together great

Briefly describe your time spent and any problems (within the team, with a computer, etc)
--During the past week, I've spent close to 20 hours in UDK, a lot of the time was trial and error and trying to create partical effects as well as animated materials. Luckily I came up with some great effects, but I did not anticipate how long it would take.

Status Report 3

What stage of the process am I on and how is it progressing? How or what could I improve?
--I am currently still in the creation station, i have made numerous models including buildings and supports.
I've also been throwing some thoughts and ideas around about different particle effects which can be used within the game. I will improve thus by probably making another model to support such effects.

Did I change my milestone goals? If so, why?
--My goals are still the same and running at a good pace.

How did i deal with the problems that came up?
--Some minor problems arose such as 3 of our 4 team members (including myself) did not attend class on Saturday, although we were in contact and i would like to thank dropbox.com to keep us all in tuned with each other and the assets we create

What is working and what is not working in the planning and implementation of the project?
--The team is still working together great

Briefly describe your time spent and any problems (within the team, with a computer, etc)
--I've spent probably a total of 20 on the computer dedicated to this project in the past week. I've been dealing mostly with models and materials. I taught myself how to make animated materials which i want to utilize for our hover-track, unfortunately the UDK books do not give the best tutorials on such materials, so i had to learn a lot from various other places and tutorials.

Models & Materials

Here is the new post/generator
I will make 4 identical ones with altering laser height (25ft, 50ft, 75ft, and 100ft)

Models & Materials

I finished my first model for Suspended Pursuit as well as some pretty fun graffiti art.
Here is a pic of the generator posts for our track. Do not be fooled by the quality of the picture
the inner blue is actually glowing, i think it gives the post an extra zazz and an idea that the post has a
current running inside.
I'll be posting pictures of the graffiti later today

Status Report 2

What stage of the process am I on and how is it progressing? How or what could I improve?
--I am currently in the creation station, and so far so good. I've created a number of graffiti decals in UDK. I want to begin textures today also.

Did I change my milestone goals? If so, why?
--I am still very confident with our milestones and i see no need for change as of rite now.

How did i deal with the problems that came up?
--A few problems and ideas arose but all of which were discussed and handled within the team discussion, problem solved.

What is working and what is not working in the planning and implementation of the project?
--The team is working together great, progress is steady and the ideas are flowing

Briefly describe your time spent and any problems (within the team, with a computer, etc)
--I've spent probably a total of 15 hours on the computer dedicated to this project, maybe more. I've been dealing mostly with photoshop and UDK, as a result i need to spend some time today digging into the material editor to really make things shine.

Suspended Pursuit

Think tank:
Set in a futuristic grunge era, players race hover boards while trying to avoid automatic turrets in a skynet like time of chaos. Navigated by translucent l.e.d. tracks suspended within high city walls and buildings, neon graffiti paints the city with rebellion.
The overall track will be composed of three separate tracks (one blue, one purple, one white) which at times cross into each other and later intersect and combine into one for the finish line stretch.
Players can fall off or fall down and land on a lower track which is slightly longer and the visibility is lower, thus delaying the player.
Along the tracks will contain boost arrows, lag arrows, and triggers which cause unfortunate consequences for the other players.

What stage of the process am I on and how is it progressing? How or what could I improve?
--Currently we are in the brainstorming phase as well as creating a high concept

Did I change my milestone goals? If so, why?
--As of rite now, my ideas for the mile stone stand solid. no problems have been run into.

How did i deal with the problems that came up?
--As stated above, no such problems

What is working and what is not working in the planning and implementation of the project?
--From our first meeting everyone contributed solid positive contribution to ideas and input. We need to figure jobs, get an asset list, and begin concepts for a layout

Briefly describe your time spent and any problems (within the team, with a computer, etc)
--So far I've spent countless hours pondering ideas and concepts for the game. I have spent a few hours drawing thumbnails for inspiration. Though setting up this blog took me a little while, and i did spell the domain name wrong, oh well.

--I am extremely excited to begin putting the game together and working with my team, i am very confident in what we can and will accomplish
